Good Evening ladies and gentlemen. Tonight
we are proud to present the 2002 edition of the Susquehanna Township High
School Marching Band! The band is the current Tournament of Bands Chapter
6 Champions in Group 2, and is comprised of 54 playing members, 12 color
guard members, and is under the field direction of drum majors Lauren
Chestney, Bethany Bagley, and Ross McGraw. Each year the band attempts to
create more unique and entertaining programs, and this year is no
exception.
Our 2002 show is an abstract view of the life that comes alive after the
sun goes down, which we have entitled "The Dark Side of Day." The
music has references to darkness or evening, comes from classical
repertoire we are certain you will recognize, and is set in three
movements. The show opens as the sun sets and the night takes on a life of
it's own with "THE AWAKENING," featuring Shawna Yoffe on flute and
alto saxophone, and Sean Boyce on baritone. Following this
energetic opening, the band presents "SHADOWS," a serene and
plaintive reflection on the more peaceful side of the evening, featuring
Sam Maurer on mellophone, Janelle Pham and Alex Bender
on trumpet. As the evening goes on, the third movement depicts the playful
side of night we like to call "MIDNIGHT DANSE," featuring Shawna
Yoffe on flute, our percussion section, and all the sections in the
band. The danse takes us through the evening and to an unexpected and
"thrilling" climax to the program. We hope you enjoy your visit to
"The
Dark Side of Day."

"The Dark Side of Day." And now... the Susquehanna Township High School
Marching Band!
