Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
Tonight we are proud to present the 1995 edition of the Susquehanna Township
High School Marching Band! The band consists of 54 playing members, 22 Color
Guard members, and is under the field direction of Drum Majors Denise Wang and
Takia Colston. The band comes into this year's season as the current
Tournament of Bands Chapter VI Group II Champions.
This year's show brings the music of Africa
to the field, with all the visual and musical pageantry of the African culture.
The show opens with a haunting portrayal of "DAWN," featuring Lee
Minnick on trombone. The piece segues into the ceremony-like
"PROCESSION," which leads us to the "FIRE DANCE," featuring
the Color Guard, Denise Wang on piccolo, and Brett Scott on tuba.
Following this opening, the band presents a beautiful composition based on a
Nigerian folk song aptly entitled "ANCIENT FOLK SONG" featuring
four sideline percussion, Andre Dyer on alto saxophone, the quartet of Ben Eckerson and
Rob Feguer on trumpets, Mary Holmes and Karen Thompson on mellophones, and
Lee Pham on trumpet. The show closes with a brass fanfare
to announce the arrival of "SHANGO, GOD OF THUNDER" with all the
pageantry and ritualistic nature associated with African culture, featuring Ben Eckerson on trumpet, as well as our guard and percussion sections. We are
certain you will be drawn into the music's addictive nature and spirit!
The band is under the direction of Bill
Perbetsky. The assistant director, drill designer, and instructor is Silvia Perbetsky.
The assistant drill instructor is Dan Rippon. Color Guard Instructor is
George Staib, with assistance provided by Mary Engel. The percussion
instructors are Steve Filippelli and Dottie Fitton. Sideline percussion
arrangements are by Bill Perbetsky and Dottie Fitton. Drum line
arrangements are by Steve Filippelli. Band arrangements are by Bill
Perbetsky.
The STHS Marching Band would like to thank
the Administration of our District for their continuing support of our growing
music program, as well as our Music Boosters Association for all of their time

Marching Band!!
