Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
Tonight we are proud to present the 1993 edition of the Susquehanna Township
High School Marching Band. The band is comprised of 63 musicians, 16
color guard members, and is under the field direction of Drum Majors Johanna
Bechtel and Molly Brennan. In it's fourth year of competition, the band
holds honors of best music, best marching, best drum majors, best percussion,
best color guard, and is also the 1992 Chapter VI Group II winners of the best
music caption, which capped off a season of being undefeated in that caption!
The band also has the honor of participating in the Atlantic Coast Championships
every year since it began competing in 1990. This year we are proud to be
moving up into the Group III competition arena! We are certain you will enjoy
the sights and sounds of this year's show.
Once again the band explores the various
styles of jazz, as we open our show with a "Cosmic" rendition of a tune that is
sure to be familiar and keep you humming all night long, featuring Marc Cochran
on trumpet. Next, the band brings the sound of the vocal group Rare Silk
to the field with "NEW YORK AFTERNOON," featuring Amy Sedor on
mellophone and Marc Cochran on flugelhorn. The band closes this year's
show with a dynamic presentation of a composition by the Singers Unlimited
entitled "ONE MORE TIME, CHICK COREA," featuring Mike Cohen on
trombone, Amy Sedor on mellophone, with Marc Cochran, Chuck Heller, Ben Eckerson,
and Karen Thompson on trumpets.
The band is under the direction of Bill
Perbetsky. Assistant director, show designer, and drill instructor is Silvia Perbetsky.
Assistant drill instructor is Brian Peffley. Colorguard Instructor is Tom
Sipe. Percussion Instruction and Arranger is Ken Hackman. Sideline
Percussion Instructor is Rick Lopez. Sideline Percussion arrangements are
by Chris Poole and Rick Lopez. Percussion assistance is provided by Ray
Powell. Band arrangements are by Bill Perbetsky.
We would like to thank the STHS Music
Boosters for all of their support and encouragement in making this year's show a
success. Thanks also to the STSD Board of Directors and the STHS
Administration for their continued efforts in supporting our growing music
program.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy "Journey Into
Jazz, Part II." And now... the Susquehanna Township High School Marching
Band.
