Announcing the newest innovations in design and photo management for the future of the Susquehanna Township High School Band website

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania - August 1, 2003 - STHSBAND.ORG, an internationally renowned website for the award winning Central Pennsylvania band, today announced the pending release of an updated and redesigned website to allow better access to information, and a streamlined method for accessing and viewing photographs on the site.

For the past year, there has been a need for better access to information, and an easier way for visitors to navigate through the collection of more than 2500 photographs, without getting lost in a dense system of menus.  At the same time, with the growing size of the collection, and desire to continue expanding with the submissions and help of the Susquehanna Township community, a new system was needed to allow photos to be posted in a shorter amount of time.

STHSBAND.ORG is contracting with thedotworks, (web) a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania based design group for a new system of navigation and a new look for the site, to replace what was intended as a temporary fix and design after moving to a new server and hosting provider in March of 2002.  Along with these new developments, we are implementing a new photo management system called Gallery (web) which will allow us to better organize and streamline the management and presentation of the large collection of photos on the site.  In addition, visitors will now have direct access to high resolution photos without the need for separate sites or pages, with a direct link to Shutterfly (web), a popular Internet photo printing website.  New features of gallery include presentation of a collection as thumbnails so visitors can select what they want to view, and a link directly from the photo so they can order it from Shutterfly without the hassle of saving and resending each one.

Additionally, we are working to develop new standards and practices for the privacy and benefit of our viewers, and to ensure that whatever may arise in the future, this site will continue to operate free of charge, and continue providing a valuable resource to the both the Susquehanna Township and national/international communities.
